Tons of sun, mountains nearby, good beer everywhere, great city itself with more bars and restaurants than you can take in, some pretty good arts and culture and the parks are amazing.All the above towns work great for rentals -- Arvada, Westminister, Thornton (a bit more north, than northwest), Broomfield to a lesser degree.

Hopefully the move is a positive one for you both professionally and personally.Because your income is not guaranteed, I would try and curb what spending you can early on to get a handle on things.If anything isn't necessary, consider putting it on hold, e.g. non-utilities, restaurant spending, etc.

It has perfect location, not only commute wise but also it is close to restaurants and night life, it has covered garage, etc.

Other than that, not much between Crown Point and Lafayette if you are looking for some action (restaurants, activities, etc)
