Public transportation expansions are happening, street repairs, Whole Foods Distribution, and about $2m worth of business proposals including a hotel for tourism is in the works because of the Historic Pullman District and President Obama naming it a National Park District.

I came across TDT (Tourism Development Taxes) - Is this a separate tax from county tax and do I need a separate license for this?

Third, the economy is still very dependent on tourism. 

It is sad to see such a booming hospitality & tourism town turn into a ghost town. 

Add to that the record number of people moving into town long term either as homebuyers or renters and we barely even had a shoulder season last fall.I record year in real estate sales, yes, but not a record year in tourism.

I would have guessed that the people driving up the prices are the fair number of buyers from out of state and even international countries given the profile of the universities and the strong tourism in the area.

I'm targeting a city like Cartegena in Colombia which thrives on tourism and renting out Airbnbs. 

If you are in a destination/tourism-heavy area, local gov understands that and already is used to "living" that way. i.e. take large parts of their revenue from accommodation taxes, sales taxes, etc.

So much so, these entrepreneurs are called “Tampreneurs.”Tampa has the diversified economy millennials seek, led by financial services, STEM-related occupations, health care, research, education, tourism, retirement, and military bases all making significant contributions to jobs and growth.

Apparently - investments are booming in Jamaica and there seems to be rapid changes in the Tourism industry as the country takes the lead on Caribbean Economic Leadership.
