First figure out where your domain is registered -- this is likely who you pay to renew your domain name registration every so often.You can change MX (mail) settings with your registrar and host your email elsewhere -- it takes about a day to complete the process because of how changes to such settings work.

Over $1000 the contractor must be licensed with the Registrar of Contractors.  

So you put a few hundred bucks down or 10 bucks, take it to the county registrar and cloud the title, so that the owner has to acknowledge working with you, so they can't sell it out from under you.

@Damien Clark If asking nicely just won't work, you can report them to the BBB or the local Registrar of Contractors if they're licensed.  

This is what everybody does, because it works.In memphis it can take over a year for your name to appear as owner on the registrars site so imagine how useless a list of homes would be :-)

In my county, they appear in the online registrar of deeds database.

Is it registered on the historic registrar?

You should be able to look up any mortgages and liens online with your county offices, clerk of court, registrar, etc.
