They've also broken the microwave twice, I just replaced the water heater, they damaged the hard wood floors which they fixed, and all the blinds will need to be cleaned or replaced.I've had to fork over a few grand for an assessment a year and half ago for roof repairs since the dues were only really covering expenses and they weren't building up reserves enough for major repairs, hence the increase in dues also.

For faux stainless, we pay under $1500 for frige, range, dishwasher and microwave- Replace all the light fixtures (no fluorescents) and plumbing fixtures and make sure they all match- Replace all the outlets, switches and cover plates with new white ones- Put mini-blinds on all the windows

You could maybe offer them to install a ceiling fan for an extra $ 15/month (might cost you $ 50-60, install depends)Or maybe a microwave vent hood for a certain price per month. 

For the missing microwave you can add it back or put a shelf in.

My 11 yr old is enthralled by the microwave but told me he "likes the 'burbs because they're cozy."

I have a 3rd floor unit that currently has a kitchen vent above the stove that recirculates air within the house (through the over-the-range microwave).  

That microwave has more than lived its expected lifespan and more. replacement microwaves can be 250 or so plus installation costs.

This includes the gas stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, large french door refrigerator, and washer/dryer.
