I work as an engineer full time but I want to invest in real estate.

I grew up not far from State College, PA, and currently work there as an engineer for Penn State University. 

My Dad was a structural engineering graduate from Virginia Tech with experience as a field supervisor for Ryan Homes.

I'd like to remove all of the old vinyl and worn carpet and put down an engineered wood flooring throughout (except kitchen and bath). 

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good structural engineer/architect who can get this done at a reasonable price? 

I know I am missing something here, but it seems like this could work and I could profit $75K for engineering the whole thing. 

You could ask them to pay for a structural engineer to guarantee the property is safe.
