I am way more impressed with someone with multiple rentals and I couldn't care less if they own the house the live in.I have just arrived at the same conclusion, and begun the soul searching process which has led me to Bradley Turner's books, and in turn to BiggerPockets.

That might be a Kia Soul or Forte, a Honda Fit, a Toyota Corolla, etc.

We’ve sacrificed time with family, vacations, fancy dinners, our backs, you name it, to make this happen and we’re not done yet.The moral of the story is sacrifice, being able to take a risk, and sheer grit and determination - all of this to get to our end goal which is being able to quit our soul sucking corporate jobs so we can use our time as we see fit...which is probably more REI.

On the other hand, if an area decides to do some soul-searching and works to address the reasons they lost (*), in order to encourage more business development for everyone, without just handing free money or other preferential status to individual companies, then losing Amazon may turn out to be a blessing in the long run.  (*) Examples: Reducing unnecessary regulation and bureaucracy in areas not known for being business friendly, or fighting discrimination in areas not known for being "inclusive", and so on...
