If you are 'researching' just call up the apartment leasing people, say you are a parent of a student interested in a place...if they say sorry age limit, against their policies...then you know they are not your competition.

@Matthew, some tenants are trained by parents how to game the system and have NEVER been good tenants.

I, an only child, quit my writing job in NYC and moved back home to Los Angeles to take care of the both of them.

So, between Child Support/Alimony, and that mortgage, I think it will be difficult for me to get financing.
