Since there is more risk, and therefore presumably upside in these deals, it is in the interest of the syndicator to push a majority of their income to the tail end, and in doing so gets a bigger payday. 

@Justin Summers, I'm reminded of the old example of the odds of a coin landing heads or tails. 

Depending on the language, it probably won't matter whether you saw it with the listing agent or not.The listing agent most likely has a "tail" on the contract.
