Last year, the city required a bank statement, which was not overly difficult for me to produce; however, this year the city of Chicago required either a homeowners exemption or a state license showing the exact address and unit for the listed AirBnB.

A lot of them will only point you in the "right direction" and have you consult with a licensed professional in that field (ie. structural engineer, licensed electrician, plumber etc) if there are any concerns.

I’m established in my career and not looking to make RE my full time but I don’t have a ton of capital and I enjoy modeling and underwriting and being hands on with management so the passive/syndication route isn’t an option.
