It's apart of the process on your first one.If you do a single family and plan to have 2-3 other roommates that are about 25 years old as well, you might go a little bit crazy.

Keep in mind if OP does not buy a house he would still most likely be renting an apartment, and probably be paying 2k+ in rent.

Others that were not quite double the cost, but were newer and more townhouse than apartment, have appreciated quite well. 

I would rip apart our competition if I found out they had a $30/mon fee.
