I don't have time to explain everything from scratch, if someone is totally green I usually tell them to read a few books and get on BP before we talk more.When I started out I signed up for a one year coaching program with Rich Dad Education.

Over the past six months I have been listening to the Bigger Pockets Podcasts and reading a couple of the books that guests recommend (Rich Dad Poor Dad, The Miracle Morning).

I would just say that if you go to one where you quickly get the vibe the organizer is trying to sell something (i.e. some kind of coaching or get rich quick whatever...) get out of there...meetups should be about networking, sharing opportunities etc...IMHO not about selling your fellow REIA members....if anyone disagrees I'd welcome the input

Or is more like my pretend rich uncle gives me 100k and says go make money and Pay me back if you can?

Started my real estate education about two years ago after reading “Rich Dad Poor Dad” of course.

I perceive REI as something that is not a get rich quick scheme and that requires due diligence.My current plan is to buy and hold.

I suspect property investing has created more rich than any other means.  

In reality if your flipping is successful it could be your long term  path to riches.
