That is what we did and it is doing very well and we didn't pay a ton for it either.I also use the Zinus Green Tea mattresses and they have been awesome.

And certainly no king mattress. 

A bedroom would typically include a bedframe, mattress, nightstand, desk, desk chair, another sitting surface, lighting and some decorative art.

Nothing major -mostly replacing chairs, mattresses, towels etc. 

One we are using is to use 4 milk crates and an air mattress with a bedspread for a bed (and a do not use sign!).

As soon as prices start to dip, there will be a lot of buyers that have been sitting in the background, with mattress money, ready to scoop them up as they have been waiting for "the next recession" for the last five or so years. 

Also consider heated mattress pad and/or blanket for the bed.

And as a topper the wife lives closer to friends.

Period I'm always curious to know - of the people that think a crash is coming 100%: why not sell your home or homes now and - stash the money under your mattress and then buy for .30 to .50 cents on the dollar?

We are also in a buyers grou where we get discount on Helix mattresses, and then we get our linens from hotel suppliers such as HD Supply and others.
