Im looking to now invest somewhere in AZ as the home prices seem reasonable and seems like a very popular destination.

We are residents of Missouri and have a Florida LLC that owns a short-term rental home in Destin, Florida.We have owned it for almost 4 years now and would like to sell the home.The purchase price was $779,000 and sale price will be $1,200,000.We understand that we will pay federal capital gains and we understand the depreciation recapture aspect but we are unsure exactly what taxes we will be on the hook for since we are residents of MO and the home & LLC are in Florida.Do we also have to pay MO income tax on the gain even though the LLC and house are in FL?

I am admittedly biased, as I own a real estate company in Killington, but Vacasa ranked Killington the number 2 destination to buy a vacation home in the US just a few months ago.

@Mickey Bauer, if the cabin is in a popular destination location and you are looking for a way to keep it, try to figure out how it can pay for itself without burdening you financially - you can consider renting it out furnished as a vacation property, AirBnB, etc.

Living close to your destination I have many friends that bought condo's in your location with the idea of renting them when they were not there to help pay for the condo. 

I would think Panama City,  Destin, Fort Lauderdale and even Orlando would be good areas to checkout.

But regardless of the destination, hard work, dedication, and knowledge is what's required to succeed, not excuses.

The bus that I am on has taken me to many stops and destinations and I still have many more to go.
