About the only way I see you salvaging the reno with the original contractor would be for you to reinvent 1) yourself, 2) your relationship with the contractor, 3) Scope of workYou'll basically need to start over with another contract - find out exactly how much work is left, spell it all out, get a number on it and a firm schedule, add your penalty clauses and keep going.
