These homes you will renovate to a higher standard, with better quality carpet, lighting, appliances (likely stainless steel), tile backsplash, and possibly granite counter tops.

I like the backsplash- where did you get the tiles?

Allure flooring, "premium" vs. regular carpet, marble vs. subway tile backsplash, etc.

I am helping my mother install a backsplash in her kitchen and I had a question.

Rehab/repairs consisted of all new floors, tile over basement concrete floor, all new stainless appliances, washer and dryer, full paint job, removing drop ceiling and replacing with drywall, shed demolition, fancy kitchen faucet, granite countertop and backsplash installation (kept cabinets), new bathroom vanity, new gfci and grounded outlets by licensed electrician. 

Maybe backsplash in the kitchen too. 

If I get the house for 55k I am essentially paying 30k for the loan (about 1 month) and the rehab:1) siding2) roof3) 11 double-hung windows, 4 glassblock windows4) clean yard5) repair fence6) replace attic windows with vents7) replace garage door8 ) install lattice around porch9) troubleshoot plumbing/electric, make all minor repairs10) LR-patch/paint, new carpet11) DR-patch/paint, restore hardwood floor12) Kit-drywall ceiling, replace countertop and backsplash, install vinyl floor, install new door to basement13) Hall-install new thermostat, patch/paint walls, new closet door14) Bath-???

I'm picking back splashes out tonight actually!   

If you're looking to do a flip, and it's all about appearances, I think the tiled showers with back splash hints look amazing!
