Similar to @Ned Carey - my reserves are based on looking at how long each big ticket item will last and dividing it that that # of years.

I highly recommend that my fellow service members start educating themselves first then look for homes in the areas around their bases as there are always other service members on looking for homes and each base has a housing office.

Thanks @Justin Pillion - That seems to be the consensus about Naperville so I'm planning on looking in the Joliet/Romeoville/Lockport area for some SFH and perhaps a few multi-family if I can find them.
