My units are in San Diego (one exception) and therefore the costs might be higher but so will some of the life expectancies (virtually no water damage, minimal heat related issues, ... basically a mild climate).

However, in northern climates frame mounted panels (on flat roofs or on the ground) still offer better performance as they can be configured track the sun and they do not get buried by snow.
