With siding, we like to remove the trim, cut back the siding, flash the opening and caulk and install using the windows nailing fin (which is cut off on a pocket install) tape fin with zip tape or similar, replace the siding pieces or spacers and replace trim then caulk and paint.

Also love 50s and 60 ranch style homes because you can pretty much nail down the rehab to a T as the square footages and labor costs are all about the same.

We're still in the exploratory phase so still nailing down a strategy, but I think we're planning to start with SFHs that cost around 100K - and in an ideal world with the aim to buy one at a time while we get comfortable but hoping to scale up with a new place every 6 months or so until we have around 5.
