What’s more baffling is that, instead of rectifying the issue, Mike provided access to the wrong account – the unused and unknown one – and eventually led to the cancellation of both my accounts.This experience not only highlights serious issues in their customer service but also raises concerns about their internal account management systems.

Even if a property has clear title you probably cannot get title insurance on a property until you own the property a year because title companies won't trust the title searches because tax sales are so messy.You have to have clear title to get title insurance, but with a tax sale, you also generally have to own the property a year as well because that gives some time for any unknown issues to come forward. 

You're new to STR, never done it before, so that means everything is an unknown.

Other states I considered were Tennessee (specifically Nashville area) and Florida - the high insurance costs and being on the opposite coast with FL and again both are unknown markets. 

Building a new SFH gives you more control over the construction process, allowing you to avoid many of the unknowns that come with buying an existing home.

Blocking unknown numbers, email junk folder, etc, takes care of another 25%.  

The fear of the unknown is what's getting me, but I hope I'll be learning a lot from everyone!

I'm sure it's much harder for someone in their 50's or 60's to think how far behind they are because they waited to long or were just scared of all the unknowns.
