I have done demo work on moldy crap houses. get a dumpster, gloves, and a respirator rated for that kind of work. you can buy a garden pump sprayer and mix a very light bleach/water mixture and spray areas you are working on, it will kill germs and most importantly keep the dust down so you don't breath it in. setup a negative air flow so nasty air gets sucked out and sanitize the place with bleach/antimicrobial treatment as you go and once you are done. you dont wana fail a mold test after the work is done!

As if the rrp isn't enough, when you employ someone to do the work, they're supposed to (so we were told) get a physical done, get this.. to see if they're physically able to handle a respirator (for osha).

WEARING A RESPIRATOR WILL PREVENT YOU FROM SMELLING ANY FUMES.

You won't do any damage to the slab.One big precaution is to use a dust shroud on the angle grinder with a shop vac and wear a respirator!

How particulate respirators work can't be reduced to a colander analogy.

Then, use a hammer and chisel to break it free.As stated above, you can also melt it, it will be VERY smokey, because it should have white oakum ( highly combustible);  so, establish proper ventilation, a fire watch, and get a good respirator.

At the time a nearby forest fire was raging, we checked on our tenants and handed out respirator face masks.

That means proper respirators, Tyvek suits, booties, negative air machines, lots of 6 mil plastic, duct tape, heavy duty trash bags, etc.

I spend way too much time in a respirator for that.

I now keep a respirator that's designed for mold in my car.
