That way since there is a connection to the basement there is not issue with you crashing down there.If you don't want to do something like that, I would cut the basement off from the first floor and just rent the first floor, leaving you the basement to crash in when you want.Or see about getting the basement made into it's own separate unit now that ADU are allowed in Mass (although the law may not kick in until the new year)Also your town may now require a certificate of occupancy to be issued before you can rent it out and they may have something to say about this basement connection anyway.Just my two cents as they say.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to florida if a mass migration truly happens. 

There are trade off marketing channels such as cold calling and mass SMS. 

We had one in Mass. recently where they overvalued the property which was in awful condition and compared it to homes in a cul de sac that were updated.

Mass is a good market if you know how to play in it.

(Mass Govt should be giving experienced landlords (5 years operating with at least one unit at profit as a buy and hold) zero down loans to house these people (in areas they currently live in--so they can stay close to friends and family), and free money to fix up the Brockton type area homes to modern standards inside.

So he pushed harder, put his shoulder into it, and he's a big guy, 6' and 240lbs of more muscle than flab, and he said he got further in that time, but he said that something pushed the door closed so hard that he fell back on the stairs, and all the lights went out for a few seconds, and he heard the door upstairs slam shut again.

The property owners IN MASS burnt down their properties, which, since they did not file insurance claims was actually the only LEGAL way to free themselves of the continuing negative cash flow of these buildings.  

What helped me learn real estate investing was just analyzing as many properties as possible to build the muscle.
