I've been dormant a while, but after 2.5 years living in Greenville SC, I'm looking to finally make the plunge in some rentals up here...but I am still not sure what are prime areas.I've been told Cherrydale area I can get a 3/2 under 100k that'll rent at 1%...what are some areas other investors have had luck with?

Let it be dormant while you are gone.Then you have the option for an interested person but not a requirement to keep it up.

You've answered your own question.What you have is what I call "dormant equity".

If your HELOC is dormant then just pull a little bit of out, say like $1,000 dollars.

What you can do is get some kind of cable/dish service and "turn it off" when the house is dormant.
