Section 8, San Diego

Rental housing is difficult in San Diego for the tenant.

A friend of mine was recently approved for section 8 and she can't find a house to rent.

Are there reasons to not take section 8, isn't it guaranteed rent each month?

Anybody know of resources to find rentals other then the website?

Dealing with the government. Inspections before you can rent the unit and every year. Requirements to fix minor problems including things caused by the tenant. Paperwork. Longer notice requirements for rent increases and non-renewals. Having to prove rent rates and rent increases. Chasing partial payment from the tenant. Hoping that the tenant doesn't get knocked out of the program due to higher income or bad habits and now can't afford your unit.
