I just don't see the mechanism the turns them into a repository for enough H2S (or whatever) gas to containment another house without killing them in the process.Now, if this is some sort of bacteria that's in the drywall, munches it producing the bad gas, infects people, and jumps out of them into another house and starts munching and reproducing there, then this is a MUCH larger problem.

My business was 100% reliant 90 days ago on meeting people at their homes - I flat stopped that, because the risk of infection is negatively asymmetric (the harm could be completely disproportionate to any potential return).

If the tenant can prove that they were actually sick (ie, has a doctor bill from the last couple of months for a respiratory infection, asthma attack, etc), then I'd consider some additional compensation - at least pay for the doctor bill.

I think the square footage of the "infected" property is the primary driver of cost, but I do think that the contamination level plays into it as well.
