Attended a speech today by a couple Chines drywall specialists. It was heated at times but here is what was agreed on.
1. It is a mess.
2. There are NO guaranteed answers
3. We haven't even touched on the commercial problems yet
4. The CROSS CONTAMINATION is really bad. If you move out of a known Chinese drywall house, you CARRY the problem with you in your furniture and body.
5. Even though you have ZERO sheets of contaminated drywall, home could have it from furniture etc OR even if the developer stocked drywall in a home for the home next door!
6.Not limited to 2004-2008. homes. What if you added on or rehabbed an older home?
7. Problem exists as far away as Alaska..
8. Only SURE way is to test the air in a lab.
9. Lots of scams going on -chinese drywall sniffing dog! A radar type gun that is pointed at every sheet of drywall. Neither work.
10.Some owners changing wires, appliances and plumbing to scam future buyers

All in all, a great explanation. Unknown what can and will be done. This will become a huge story in next couple years. You absolutely DON'T want to own one of these homes, even if repaired, imo. Rich
