I had researched asbestos siding when I was looking a couple years ago and as long as it is well maintained and not deteriorating it does not seem to be an issue and based on the multiple offers I was competing with it didn’t appear to have a price impact.

Asbestos was used in many materials throughout buildings - stucco; window putty; asbestos-cement shingles, pipes, and flues; pipe, duct, and vessel insulation; sheet vinyl flooring; drywall joint compound (so over much of the drywall surface); plaster; floor tile (all sizes); flooring, mirror, ceiling tile, and other mastics; roofing; plastic roof cement; roof coatings; acoustic ceiling texture; ceiling tile; and more.Lead-based paint coated with non-lead-based paint in good condition is less of an issue, as long as it is maintained, and is not damaged or disturbed, as by repair and renovation work, or deterioration.

They can't keep places like Bijlmer deteriorating indefinitely.

The house is steadily deteriorating, plus one of my siblings ,whom refuses to work, has 3 children living in the house,  and one of the other siblings has one grown child living in the house,and has NO income, to assist my disabled brother, in the upkeep of the property etc.

hi mark, i was thinking of just flipping it. its a small 2 bedroom which would not bring in much for a rental i think, and rental is not really my game. it is in an area that i know is currently in a revitalization effort by the city. the director of development has told me that they are putting in a mini mall with a major grochery chain store involved. also, they have already started to put in 48 new houses in the immediate area as part of that revitalization effort too. admittedly, this house is in an area that has deteriorated over the last 20 years, it does have a multi unit " projects" housing very close by and has gone from largely black area to more arab residents. the street that this house sits on has about 10 new habitat for humanity houses already built and inhabited also. its an area that is up and coming, but is only in process. if i get it, i will let you know, mark

However, we have come to the conclusion that it is a bank owned property that is sitting, just deteriorating.

When the road deteriorates it will likely affect the value of your property.  

There is a reason that condos and professionally run syndications do this.They know that if they ask for the funds when needed, some owners will refuse or delay and the work will not be done in a timely way causing the asset to deteriorate in value.
