There are battery plants and large bourbon distilleries coming  left and right.

I gift 9V batteries for the smoke detectors and door mats.

@Jay HinrichsThe company that I work for only manages properties (we will recondition homes (Paint, carpet, mechanical/appliance repair & install, etc), but not usually full gut/rebuild/rehab jobs.

Change the batteries on Daylight Savings so you remember when it was last done.

Having the additional equipment, batteries, controllers, inverters etc. can be daunting for a home buyer.

Also they are building an electric car/truck battery factory in lordstown which I believe will build batteries for the new hummer.

Also keep in mind with sump pumps, it might be wise to have a backup battery for them in case you lose power in a huge storm

Some allow the 10yr lithium battery though.As far as major repairs, it's always a worry. 

While the primary purpose of these vists is routine maintenance (clean/change HVAC filters, check backup batteries in smoke/CO alarms, etc.) it provides an opportunity to survey the state of the property and find small issues (the leak under the kitchen sink) before they become large problems (the students will not notice, or remember to tell you, about the leak under the kitchen sink until water drips from the ceiling below)- hold tenants accountable for utilities.  

I'm guessing the biggest pain would be at some point the batteries would need replacing.
