If I have to do 20 15 year mortgages to get there, I'd rather have 20 30's (we're talking about the last 15 years of a 30 year mortgage...when you would have the 15's paid off).  20 properties, with accumulated added cash flow, is enormous. 

It costs enormously more interest in absolute dollars.
