I think that there are a few points of view.When I was going to university for business I made it a point to ask every business professor if they had experience in what they were teaching and what their field of study was.

We're talking a run down area with convenience stores, cell phone stops, T-shirt shops, nail salons and even a dreaded store front church (I remember an Urban Planning professor describing store front churches as an indicator that the commercial value was in the lowest tier).

Just as an example: I once ran a guy out of town who was a professor at a bible college, who decided oit was OK to demand sexual favors from a lady who was in an installment purchase agreement with a non-profit organization.
