I’m in my late 20s and I’d be co-signing with my father on this possible future mortgage.

The tenants include mother, father, daughter and granddaughter  (1 year-old). 

We are from Long Beach, CA and her father has numerous rental properties.

So my father has a small rental unit with a large detached garage at one location and a house that needs work where he currently resides.

Should she sell it, it is currently on the market, I will receive 1/3, my father 1/3, and my aunt 1/3.My internet research suggests that the basis of the property reset in 2002.  

My father-in-law's neighbor is in pre-forclosure proceedings in Washington State.

She's complained to her father, who is a co-signer on her lease, and he has gone into helicopter parent mode harassing us to "fix" the problem.

@Dennis M. my father had rentals in Adelaide back in the '60's that we would work on.

My father has been trying to get me to invest in commercial (his wheelhouse) for the last decade, and after seeing his portfolio grow in that timespan, I'm kicking myself for not starting that journey sooner. 

I’m sure this is small potatoes to some of you hard hitters out there, but it’s incredible and huge to me.My friends father was a contractor when he was growing up, and he worked for his father through high school so he had that experience already.
