Chris,I am guessing by "Old Style Radiators" you mean the upright, silver cast iron steam or gravity hot water ones.You can box the old style radiators to update the look.

Other than buying a rental home which takes no particular skills.. you don't see guru's selling how to buy a rental home.. its wholesaler and flipping and notes etc etc.. that are little more complicated.but look at BP one of the pod cast above.NO time NO money NO game you too can do it..

I listened to one of the pod casts, and the speaker of the pod cast says he does all lease option, and effectively he passes on the Maintenance/Repair expense to the buyer by offering to give them $100 credit from rent per month at the end of the year ($1200 total) if they take care of all the repairs themselves during the year.

Cast iron and copper are still mandatory for plumbing drain/waste/vent on buildings taller than 40'  Getting back to old galvie supply piping....the water pressure is usually rendered adequate when just the horizontal piping in the basement is replaced.
