The lots next to my home are empty and unimproved (think mounds of dirt and weeds, cactus too) and has become the official dumping ground of the builder for everything from excess plywood to mattresses and extra concrete and rebar. 2.

Mattresses, broken TV, kid's bike and toys, kitchen items, 40-year-old sleep sofa, etc.If there's nothing of real value, just take pictures or video with your phone to document what you found and then toss it.

(How that's going to affect everyone's taxes is another question for another professional... especially in the Brave New World that just passed Congress. )  Otherwise, you've got $170K in a mattress or tied up in some investment that you can use, or you've got enough clout that some or all of that money can be lent to you as an unsecured loan... 

I had a previous tenant with a dog destroy everything in the home and I had to replace all the furniture, queen sleeper, mattress, bedding, linens, area rugs, flooring, so I am really leery about renting to people with pets now.

If they were smart, they kept as much cash in the mattress as they could the last couple of months before losing everything else, so they could pay rent to a guy who owned his houses outright.

It provides security but it limits opportunity. 2/3 equity in a house is a little like stuffing money in a mattress.

You had a kitchen, bathroom, living room with the mattress on the floor. 2 of the units were not occupied and the 4th unit although was a 2 bedroom that didn’t scream let’s stay here a year.

We pulled through, but we're never going through that kind of stretch again.Just want to be another voice here telling you we've had to go to the mattresses, too, and we get it.
