I color in the scratch then wipe it down with a terry cloth.

You'll have at least one or two "professional" tennants that slip by and are just there to rob you and make your life miserable.Sadly until you have 20 units and are golfing at noon on a Monday you won't be able to change your family's minds.I remember more than once having to burn my clothes along with an entire house full of stuff with my dad because it was just... gross. 

Remove your personal things like clothing, shoes, firearms and perishable food. 

If the outside cloth covering is torn or in bad shape, consider encapsulation which is special tape wrapped around the pipe.  

Their clothes, shoes, gloves get diesel fuel and its precursors all over them. 

You just need to bring your clothes and groceries, everything else is there.

They managed to break the washing machine in the first 3 weeks by overloading it so aggressively that some clothing spilled over the tub and got caught in the pump.

I’ve had people actually wash my clothes before for money and I wasn’t worried about them being “attractive”.  

I have a big drop cloth that I move around the rooms with me to keep the floors clean.
