Many people protesting to be real estate investors aren't and often get away with it because they assigned/wholesaled a property or two for profit so they figure they've won the title.

Then they used lowball comps, which I had to protest (you only get 1 protest), and I did not want to spend the $$$ on a formal appraisal, which is an option if you so desire.Here's the kicker, the XOME number on their site, because they are trying to be like Zillow with an estimate, was much higher than what I got from the XOME appraiser.

When we do charges against the tenants security deposit, we send them a copy of move-in picture with a copy of the move-out picture, this greatly reduces tenants protesting the charges against her security deposit.Document document document.

They just want to keep the money train rolling.So the end strategy is that you've got to be INCREDIBLY careful in how you invest...you've got to understand how to protest your tax rate...how to go in front of the board of review, how to make your case, how to appeal the new assessment.
