I’m wondering if I should just roll with the $1,700 plan, I get my number from my mortgage payment and Rentometer said $1,700 which I think is doable maybe.

Tedious but if neighbors are complaining or the town officials keeps bringing up issues about STRs that's a warning to you. 2 BRs is small but doable.

We would like to fix up and rent it out but that will take capital to make the updates, which could be doable with credit and paying off from our w-2 income to eventually rent it out.

I find DV similar to an undervalued stock as travis county median price is ~500K....I don't think any sane investor must be thinking a home here would be worth a million bucks in next 5 years but certainly a double is doable,...

I am considering purchasing a one door, 5 bdrm house in Invermere BC and am looking for input on whether my plan is do-able: I want to purchase for $500k, put 5% down ($25k), (making the mortgage around $2800/month), charge $800-$900 a room, to be making at least $200/month profit.
