What pitfalls are there with renting to a church?

How do you like it and what are the potential pitfalls & rewards?

My main concern is to benefit those I can when I can to avoid the pitfalls inherent in real estate.

Yep the $500 specials can be a pit fall if one does not approach then with a well educated eye, we are also looking at properties that are already rented, but will still get the full inspections plus check City occupancy certification etc.When I first found BP, I quickly realised how valuable this site will be, hopefully I will be able to give back, though I am not a forum junkie as my evenings are walking the dog, cooking dinner for the family, usually quoting work then if there is any time left, property searching.

And like you I have learned my lessons by stepping in pitfalls and land-mines over the years and have made conscious effort to not repeat my mistakes and take my licks..

I’m curious to hear about your experience with this specific setup… the potential pitfalls of renting a larger house by the bedroom, strategies to minimize damage and efficiently manage the property.

I know there are no guarantees, but hopefully I'll keep the purchase and financing simple enough that focus and research will limit the potential pitfalls.
