Learn the values for your particular "farm" area really well, ask a lot of questions, then dive in!

There are many SFH portfolios in my farms that have owned for 20+ years.  

But I would be more interested in buying a tobacco farm as their cigars are still world class.However, I doubt if we will see that in my life time.

We've rented past homes with good results, and our only other current rental property rents to a cooperate farm.  

As an investor I typically pay more emphasis to my understanding of the area and market trends for my farming area and focus on the key financial metrics and comparable sales.
