It is mildew resistant, but I thought Kilz was mostly to block stains and acted as a sealer.

Bathrooms can be of a darker shade because they tend to get stained (even if temporarily) and if they are painted white, it would be difficult to maintain.

Some vinegar for water stain removal is in order. 

I also do not stain my hard wood floors, but instead I put three coats of polyurethane on natural hard wood.
