It's theoretically possible that the county could try to levy on the property to collect the lien, but it's not normal practice.

I haven't invested in one yet but I've listened to quite a few BiggerPockets podcast episodes, and Brandon Turner sounds kinda burnt out on them because they can levy assessments any time (in addition to those rule changes you mentioned).

Here's a breakdown of local crime stats, on a per-neighborhood basis.One step you could take is to plug in the property address to the Alameda County Assessor's website and see if the city or county have recently levied any special assessments for things like street paving, sidewalk repair, etc.
