In Huntington Beach, where I live, I think the police leave them alone unless they start harassing people, then they bring them in ... so they are there, but they are mostly cool.

Everyone on my floor has moved out because living in this apartment has been really a hardship - floods, mold, landlord harassment etc.I am not sure why my LL has offered me a buyout of my rent stabilized lease, but he has - this was before everyone on my floor moved out.

They GAME the system.They buy the buildings CHEAP because they are rent controlled.. harass the current tenants, get them out, and then make MILLIONS by converting to condos and selling them at market.It's not fair to guys like me who don't have the means to do it and even if I did, I would not cause the suffering of so many people in order to enrich myself.Guys like me suffer because I am unwilling to play their illegal games.

What I did right, I did not accept any partial payments, I didnt go on the premises or try to shut off utilities etc, or harass them in anyway.
