@Aaron Bryson  I thought most favelas were more like squatter settlements.

The other positive to filing the complaint is that any agreement reached on repayment would be considered a settlement of the eviction suit, and a settlement agreement could be filed with the court.

Anyone challenged a title company trying to charge the seller a closing fee or settlement fee under this MAR contract?

I used to never even look at it but I glanced at the settlement statement and said no more MN for me.. 

Of note, I paid them with a credit card and they didn't appear on the settlement statement at the end.If I can deduct this as a rental expense, where (what line item) in my taxes should I do so?

A settlement can all be done virtually, but can't be done same day because some docs need to be wet signed. 

There will be delays in settlements due to title companies and others closed during the outbreak.
