And it takes hours…  This process could probably be automated a bit using some visualization tools in Python (software scripting language).  

My wife and I recently purchase 2 rental properties in Florida and have been managing them ourselves, however, as we are thinking of moving to NYC we are looking to see how to either automate the process via property management platforms or getting an actual Property Manager.

I want to still invest in properties but how do you go about automating the rehab process? 

We are all about trying to automate, systematize, go-paperless, as much as possible.

There are certainly some people who are doing it well, with 200+ units 'automated' as they claim, but I truly don't know what payoff they're getting, or how handsoff it is.

I'm looking to automate my system and am working with my software developer to come up with a button for "snake in dryer" and "woodpecker pecking the house". 

You can automate your accounting, see real time reports, and communicate well with your tenants.

If it is long distance, set up an automated follow-up campaign so you are first in line when a seller is looking to move a property.

Metron meters (once configured) with our rent manager (property management software), are pretty easy to use, integrated well, automated readings and one click posting on the resident transactions.
