Someone buried an old washing machine drum in the flower bed in front of the apartment -- redneck planter perhaps?  

I've painted floors grey before and it came out nice but I think black might be more stylish and less labor intensive than refinishing.

I would much rather add a bedroom or bathroom rather than get more stylish carpet.

Planter boxes just got black mulch, and added some plants.

Now some nice bright flowers in those planters and you will be done!
