Hello from New Hampshire!

Hi Everyone! My name is Kyle and I live just outside of Manchester, NH.

A few months ago I was planning to use some money I had saved up to add a garage to my house. I happened to ask a financial planner what book he recommended to people who wanted to better handle their money. I thought he would mention a book like "The Total Money Makeover" or some other budgeting book. Instead, he recommended, "Rich Dad Poor Dad." I had never read it before, so I picked it up and it completely messed with me. As bad as it sounds, I had never thought of making money work for you instead of you working for money. My full-time job is as a minister, so I am not rolling in cash, and the idea of using money to turn it into more money sounded awesome. I thought of how much more I would enjoy my job as a minister if I didn't have to worry about the low pay, so I determined to start using some of the principles I learned in Rich Dad Poor Dad. My next book I picked up was Brandon Turner's "The Book on Rental Property Investing." He kept mentioning Bigger Pockets, so I decided to hop on and start chatting. I am currently reading David Greene's book on "By, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, Repeat."

In the meantime, I have begun looking for a multi-family property in the New Hampshire area. I have made two offers so far and both have been turned down. It is a pretty hot market in my area at the moment (as it probably is in many places) and I am struggling to find a good deal. So I don't have any properties yet, but I am actively working on it!

I look forward to chatting with everyone! If any of you live in NH or have any profound words of wisdom, please say hi!

Kyle

@Kyle Lewis, Welcome to BiggerPockets!

As a minister have you ever gotten to know real estate investors? If you want more real estate connections I'd suggest the NHREIA meetup every 2nd Wednesday of the month in Manchester, 40+ people show up off all sorts and very useful information. $20 for nonmembers per meeting and $90 per year to be a member. Also, there's @Gal Peretz's Mastermind meetup on the 3rd Wednesday (I believe) in Nashua, and that's free.

Just keep networking and learning!

-Joe
