So, they can markup what they paid out and keep the difference.Most PMC industry software has these two options built in.So, it's just a matter of understanding how your PMC is marking up maintenance and not expecting it to be for free.Regarding the specific charges you mentioned - there has to be some level of trust with your PMC.

You can buy a set of five for under $300, subscription for the recording software is $10 a month, then the cost of WiFi or hotspot.If you've already had a couple break-ins, you are obviously in a high-crime area.

They/you can't choose the carrier - their software assigns it.Fortegra is one of the carriers (paper in insurance parlance) that their product is written on.That said, Fortegra is A- rated I believe by AM Best so that isn't the issue.I'm going to take a guess and say that your umbrella is written with PersonalUmbrella.com (Markel) and they require all underlying insurance to be A-rated but also with an admitted carrier.
