Don't get too into the weed of recreating the wheel.

There are a ton of sales jobs here in several different sectors (aerospace, bioscience, financial services, software, data storage, energy, medical, tech, outdoor recreation/tourism, agriculture, etc. and there is a ton of VC money here for startups).

There are a few shotguns in my den I use for recreation. 

He is across the street from a boat ramp to a large recreational lake in a very affluent area.

During the spring and summer, the Kern River and Lake Isabella are busy with water recreation, fishing, and hiking and in the fall and winter it slows down but they do have winter recreation in the form of skiing at Shirley Meadows so it won't be dead in the winter.

Yes it would be great to recreate your success on an island...local knowledge rules.
