Layoffs have already started in the oil industry but I've heard that the oil companies are expecting prices to bounce later this year so layoffs may not be as heavy as they could be if prices continue to stay low for a while.

This area didn't crash hard and has pretty much bounced back to or above previous highs so it isn't the worst bet in the world.Also if you are in it for the long haul in 20 years you can be making crazy amounts of money as rents go up and your payments are fixed, or get paid off.

Currently I've been listening to podcast from BP, reading books, set a budget to save money for our first project for the coming year and just found a nearby REIA which my first meeting will be beginning in January.I look forward to getting involved in several discussions and to bounce ideas off you all.
