I would get back to local real estate investor meetups so you can connect with locals to the area and kind of get back in the game slowly that way.

Next, start building your remote teams.

Verify income: Always make sure they make 3 times the money required monthly for rent.  

I like Warren Buffet's advice to make sure you understand the investment completely before investing.  

Basically, the further you get away from the city the more potential for cashflow, but you're also dealing with a different tenant base that may be tougher to manage.

I think that's doable in the next month and half.    

However, with the disclaimer above, I'll, for entertainment purposes only, provide some thoughts on rents in the US for the next few years. 

We need the cash to mostly just tie us over untill we sell the property, so 150,000 is on the upper end; 80,000 and above would probably be sufficient. 

In the meantime, I would like to gain experience through employment with an existing real estate or property management company.Is there anyone out there that can provide me with some good advice/guidance as to the best and most practical route to achieve that goal?

Those chasing the last 5yrs experience are going to be rather sad at what the next 5yrs hold for them I think.
