I enjoyed what I did building cool bridges and hotels, but I was not too fond of the daily in and our grind.Jumping ship has brought bigger challenges, but I am happier tackling them with people I love working with.With respect to real estate & being a landlord, it's honestly something I do NOT ENJOY that much either (dealing with HOAs, repairs, vacancy, etc.)...unless you can buy properties and completely offload the property management, which was and is hard for me to do with my scarcity mindset. 

Also, established PMs I know don't like dealing with new property owners with no managing experience because they are often very unrealistic in their expectations.  

Think about it they aren't respectful of you now how is that going to change?

Jason, you are correct, most bankers are ignorant of the truly self-directed Solo 401k and that you can establish bank account for your 401k Trust.

The math is easy, the 1st Lien Heloc, even at a higher interest rate, will out perform a traditional mortgage hands down with respect to gaining equity/wealth much faster, with no change in household spending habits.

This role does not interfere with my day job, and I am eager to learn as much as possible about the industry.I am now looking to network with local established people in the Halifax/HRM area who are involved in the real estate industry.

I had to learn to establish relationships with people in the real estate investment field prior to purchasing and building.
