It is possible your landlord is just following proper procedure and did not communicate that properly.

If they have a long lease, I wouldn't mind them as a tenant, strict procedures, often dirty trash and lots of traffic.

Even if you use all the best automative procedures, unless you have a CEO or small operation with a handful of properties, you will need to put a significant amount of time into your business.
